"Keep up with the latest shenanigans at Farkham Hall and in the Farkham Hall Stores."
2025-06-29 - Thank you to all our customers from the Wales Air Ambulance
I've just heard from the Wales Air Ambulance that thanks to the immense generosity of our lovely customers, the Re(motor)cycled kit that was donated so far has raised £459 for the charity. We still have many donated items of riding kit left to re-home. In fact, so many customers have donated so much that it nearly took over the whole shop, making it necessary to put some in storage so that we could carry on the business of the day.
However, it does nobody any good in storage, not the charity, nor the riders who need some kit and not even the nice people who have taken the time and trouble to bring their unwanted items to us.
So, in order to make as many people as possible happy, over the weekend of July 5th and 6th we will be rolling back the carpets for dancing and laying out all the current stock for collection throughout our normal opening hours of 10am to 6pm on both days.
For the benefit of those that I haven't nagged about the scheme so far, the aim is to help bikers, particularly younger or newer riders, who, after buying the bike, paying for the current multi-stage training, then having their wallets ripped out through their lungs by avaricious insurance companies, find that they have little or nothing left for protective gear. Rather than let them take the risk of riding without, we ask our customers to drop off any redundant kit, which is then passed on in exchange for a donation of whatever they can afford to the Wales Air Ambulance.
The Remotorcycled department at Farkham Hall Stores has helped another couple of people to get on the road this week. Firstly, a young musician living in London was left in a bit of a sorry way financially after the insurance vultures had picked his bank account clean for insurance on his 125cc bike. In exchange for a donation to the Wales Air Ambulance, we were able to furnish him with a nice Frank Thomas leather jacket and a pair of Akito armoured fabric pants both donated by our lovely, generous customers.
A few days earlier, a young woman had called into the shop prior to going out for a first ride as pillion to her boyfriend. He had loaned her everything except boots. A quick shuffle through the Remotorcycled rack turned up a nice pair of Frank Thomas size 6 boots in red, black and white. Once again, a donation was placed in the Wales Air Ambulance collection tin to seal the deal.
How the Remotorcycled programme works: Redundant motorcycle kit is donated by very generous customers. It may not fit them any more, may not match their bike, or they have just decided it is no longer to their taste. This is then passed on to fellow bikers who need kit but for whatever reason, can't afford to buy new. All we ask is a donation to the Air Ambulance charity tin, no guidelines or prices, just what they can afford at the time.
So, if you have bike gear that is no longer used, and would like to help other, less well off bikers at the same time as helping to keep the vital services of the Air Ambulance going, drop it in to us and we will endeavour to find a home for it. Likewise, if you need some bike kit but are struggling, give us a call, we may be able to help.
